Albert Einstein's life history proved that young people who struggle in school can still achieve amazing things.
Many Wyoming young people, despite above average and average intelligence, also struggle in school. Undirected or unchallenged, they might get into trouble with the law, or have no back up support at home, be environmentally disadvantaged or developmentally challenged.
These young Wyoming citizens have ability, but for some reason have not been able to get 'back up on the horse' after falling off.
The Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation is there to give these young people 'a leg up' in life so that they can have another chance, regardless of their life circumstance.
This new educational foundation will give hope to Wyoming youth and their champions with financial assistance to help make a student's dreams of becoming a productive, responsible and successful citizen, a reality.
The foundation recognizes that not every Wyoming young person qualifies for the major scholarships, such as the Hathaway or other programs. A combination of many factors can leave children on the other side of the fence from getting help to further their educations. Some may be coming out of the juvenile justice system and others may have family and financial issues, which need special attention. But all deserve the chance to try again—to reach their true potential.
That's what the Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation is all about – a chance for all Wyoming young people to be their best.
Long before being elected as Wyoming's Senator, Craig Thomas dedicated countless hours to our state's children. He personally inspired thousands of young people, urging them to be the best they can be, whatever their circumstances.
Craig believed that a fundamental part of his job was to speak directly and honestly to Wyoming's youth – urge them to succeed - to lead in whatever their vocations, from mechanics to marketing, 4-H to Cosmetology, welding to technology. Training and education make a difference – no matter who you are or where you are.
